Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actor from the United States. Her work has been recognized for film and television from the mid-80s onwards, she's been awarded numerous awards such as two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett is originally from New York New York. She was born in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett as well as her mother and sister relocated to St. Petersburg Florida when Bassett was five. The father of the family had divorced their mother. Bassett, while in high-school, saw John Steinbeck's stage play Of Mice and Men with James Earl Jones and she was inspired to be an actor. Yale University New Haven Connecticut was where she earned her bachelor's in African American and master's degrees (1983). Courtney B. Vance was also an actor at Yale. They married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree on African American studies in 1980.
